Capping Demonstration Project, Los Angeles Harbor

As part of a borrow-pit capping demonstration project in Los Angeles Harbor carried out for the Los Angeles Army Corps of Engineers, Germano & Associates performed a series of three separate Sediment Profile Imaging (SPI) surveys to document baseline conditions, to map the spread of contaminated material after initial disposal operation, and to confirm that sand capping had been successfully carried out at all locations where contaminated material was detected. Initial “quick look” results were submitted to the client within 24 hours of field sampling, and a complete data report with thickness of dredged material layers at each station was submitted within 2 weeks of completion of the field work..
